5 Tips to Make Your Vape Coils Last Longer

Vape Coils

Vaping is a popular cigarette alternative because of its side effects and cost. Once you buy the battery for your vape, there are two recurring costs: e-liquid and coils. How often you need to replace both depends on how often you vape.

Knowing when to replace your e-liquid is more straightforward for new vapers than when you need to replace the coil. However, if you notice your coil is burning out quickly, here are a few tips from the Vape Store to make your vape coils last longer.

1)  Prime the coil

Priming the vape coil means you soak the wick with e-liquid before using your vape. Most coil heads have an opening at the top where the wick is visible. To prime, add a few drops of e-liquid through the opening. If you don’t prime your coil before you vape, you can burn it immediately. This tip is the best method to extend the life of your coil every time you get a new one.

2)  Avoid dry hits

Dry hits occur when there’s insufficient liquid in the coil to heat. The coil then heats the wick, which can cause a terrible taste. The simplest way to avoid this is to regularly top up your vape to ensure you’re always heating the e-liquid, not the empty wick. You can also avoid dry hits by limiting the time you press the power button.

3)  Clean your coil often

If you vape regularly, coils can get dirty after a few days, which can change the flavour and taste of the e-liquid. If your vape is beginning to taste funny, remove the coil from your vape and blow out any excess liquid stuck in the coil. If any liquid is in the coil, you can rinse it with hot water. Make sure the whole water is gone before connecting the coil back to your battery, and then heat the coil a few times until it gets hotter. This cleaning method will help your coil last longer.

4)  Turn your battery power down

Turning the power setting down on your battery can help extend your coil’s lifespan. When you vape at a higher wattage, the coil heats up more. Sometimes the wick can struggle to soak up the e-liquid fast enough. If the flavour is fading, the battery wattage might dry your coil.

5)  Use premium e-liquid

Purchasing premium liquids can have a big impact on the lifespan of your vape coils. For example, PG liquid is thinner than VG, so it soaks into wicks more easily. If you smoke often and the e-liquid doesn’t soak up into the wick as quickly, you might experience dry hits, which can cause your wick to burn out more quickly.
